The secret to improving egg quality is something that comes up for my patients in clinic quite a lot.

Fortunately for you, I've narrowed down a list of the best foods to support your eggs so you can get away from all the misinformation on Google.
The quality of your eggs plays a major role in how quickly you get pregnant.

In my last newsletter I discussed key supplements.
But today you're going to learn about the best foods to improve your egg quality.
Here's the truth.

You don't need to spend $$$ on exotic fruit or grains.

There's probably egg boosting foods in your fridge already.
Improving egg quality can be tricky.
Your egg quality is determined somewhat before you're born.

Females are born with all the eggs they will ever have.

Crazy right?
They are locked into a type of reproductive vault.
While they're in the vault, your eggs are protected from outside damage.
Each month, eggs are released from the vault and compete for the job of ovulation.

The life cycle of an egg to grow and mature takes roughly 3 months.

Once the eggs are released from the vault, it's our window of opportunity to influence the quality as much as possible.
And our diet has a direct impact on egg quality.

My recommendations are below:
(Pick what you like from the list and start incorporating it into your diet.)

Antioxidant rich foods:

All berries, brazil nuts, green tea, dark chocolate, turmeric, ginger, basil, cinnamon, rosemary, thyme.

Omega 3 fatty acids:

Salmon, oysters, sardines, flaxseed, chia seeds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, eggs.

Vitamin C:

Citrus fruits, broccoli, brussel sprouts, spinach, strawberries, kiwi fruit, capsicum.

Vitamin E:

Almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin, avocado, peanuts, sweet potato, olive oil.

CoQ10:

Cauliflower, oranges, oily fish, chicken, beef, soy beans, whole foods.

Folate:

Leafy green veggies, legumes, avocado, beef liver, eggs, nuts and seeds, bananas.

Overwhelmed on how to implement this?

Focus on the guidelines of the Mediterranean diet. It will:

  1. Help DNA production.
  2. Give your eggs energy to grow and develop.
  3. Provide the nutrients essential to egg quality.
  4. Reduce inflammation and protect your eggs from damage.

Go back to basics.

  • Eat the rainbow.
  • Think whole foods, less processed food.
  • Make sure your meals contain a protein, carb and fat source.

Egg quality is one half of the fertility equation.
Remember, fertility is a team sport.
For the best results, get your partner on board too.
