Christmas can be a hard time of year
Dec 22, 2023
Christmas is a hard time of the year when you are struggling to have a baby.
I get it. It's a time that is supposed to be happy, yet it leaves you with more anxiety. For anyone trying to conceive, it can feel like you are loosing time. Christmas is a symbol for another year gone by. With no certainty about the future.
BUT, I can promise you. Your egg quality doesn't fall of a cliff at the end of the year.
It's ok to say no.
Setting boundaries around where you go and who you see, can help you get through this festive season.
Dreading those drinks with the old school friends who all have kids? and will inevitable ask the dreaded question..."Do you think you will have baby?"
Drop the guilt.
If you miss one year and prioritise your own self care, you are going to
significantly reduce your stress.
Those around you that don't know you are struggling won't understand the energy it takes to be social.
Avoid triggers.
I know, announcements are on STEROIDS at this time of the year.
When you are trying to have a baby, it's everywhere you look.
Here are some ways you can avoid it:
• Turn off notifications on social media.
• Spend your time how YOU want to spend it.
• Take a break from certain places or people who trigger you.
• Enlist a safe friend or family member to help you navigate Christmas
parties and family events.
You are not alone.
Trying to conceive can mean grieving a life that you thought you would have by now. What many people don't realise is that on the surface you might be smiling, but underneath there is fear, anxiety and self-blame.
The busiest time of the year can also be the loneliest when you are in the fertility trenches. Find your safe people, and surround yourself with those who know how to support you.
I'm sending love and support to you if you are struggling at this time of the year.
